"CROSSING BORDERS,STEPPING OVER THE LINE,
AND PUSHING THE LIMTS, ALTERING POTS”
Exploring alterations by carving, cutting, scoring, stamping and manipulating to create new shapes and ideas"

Meira Mathison
has maintained a studio, Dancerwood Pottery, in Victoria, British Columbia,
Canada for over 26 years. Described as dynamic and fun, she has been conducting
popular clay workshops throughout British Columbia, Alberta, the U.S., and Mexico.
Meira is particularly noted for her unique high-fired altered porcelain and
her distinctive Raku style and surface treatments.
Of her work,
Meira says: “I love what I do! Whether is is making a pot or participating
in discussions with other artists, or teaching and helping people stretch their
abilities. My pots reflect my life- ever changing, nothing static; a life full
with color, fun, pushing the limits...”
Meira especially
enjoys the mentoring aspects of teaching and enjoys setting up challenges for
students that pushes them beyond mere techniques and into their own personal
reflections that elevates their work “over the border” and into
the realm of true art.
Meira’s
work is widely exhibited throughout Canada and has been highlighted in many
books and publications others, ’Clay and Glazes’ by Daniel Rhodes,
